United Image was appointed by Motorola to create a global identity for its newly acquired mobile operating system, AJAR. Motorola’s acquisition ensured valuable technology assets for two of its strategic growth initiatives; ultra low-cost handsets and fixed-mobile convergence.
United Image was commissioned to determine how AJAR could be incorporated into the Motorola family of brands, while operating within the existing global corporate identity guidelines. The challenge was to identify an individual positioning and flexible identity system for AJAR in order to communicate a variety of messages to multiple audiences in different business markets.


The new identity created by United Image for AJAR has a distinctly different look and feel to other products in Motorola’s already extensive portfolio. Once the new identity had been created it was rolled out across the organisation, including online media, printed literature, product packaging and corporate communications.
Comprehensive, flexible guidelines ensured strong buy-in from staff and external partners while ensuring that the high standards of Motorola’s global corporate identity were maintained.
